Every finisher receives a free native plant—yours to take home or gift back to help restore local habitats. Generously provided by our sponsors and nurtured with care by community nursery volunteers.

There will be merit prizes for the winners in each category and then a bunch of spot prizes.

Brought to you by our supporters Tailwind nutrition.

  • All marshal instructions must be obeyed without question. This is a safety issue. Participants ignore marshal instruction at their own risk.

We will have First Aid facilities on site.

Out on the trail, if you see someone take a spill, stop and make sure they are okay. If they cannot keep moving, send someone back for the nearest Marshal/aid station or wait for the sweep. We’ll take it from there (Those helpful people will have their time adjusted).

  • There is no compulsory gear but we do recommend trail shoes.

  • We are planning three aid stations roughly at 3.5 km, 11 km and 16 km.

All stations will be stocked with food electrolyte, water and mixed lollies.

Why

We’re working toward a bold vision: returning kiwi to the forests of Muriwai.

Our iconic national bird is conservation dependent—without protection from introduced predators like stoats and ferrets, 94% of wild-hatched kiwi will not survive.

Your steps make a difference. Every stride helps raise vital funds to support bringing kiwi home. For more details on the Muriwai kiwi project click here.

The Muriwai Environmental Trust (MET) was established in 2011 with a simple but powerful goal: to care for, protect, and enhance the natural environment of Muriwai and Waimauku. We’re a registered charitable trust (CC47215), grounded in local action and community connection.

Over the past decade, MET has fostered a highly engaged local community while becoming a trusted partner to mana whenua, Auckland Council, and the Department of Conservation. Our work spans across animal and plant pest control, regenerative planting, and community education — all with the aim of protecting and restoring our unique landscape.
